2022 Strength Index Ratings

New Jersey's high school football season begins in just under two months (59 days to be exact), and with that, we present the starting Strength Index ratings for all 339 schools that will field a varsity team this year.

As per the NJSIAA's 2022 Football Rules and Regulations, the initial Strength Index rating will be determined by taking the final Strength Index rating from the 2021 season (which includes all games played, not just those prior to the cutoff date), and moving that number close to 60 by one-third.

For example, Team A had a Strength Index of 90 to finish last season. 90 minus 60 is 30, and one-third of that is 10, so Team A's Strength Index to begin this season is 80 (90 - 10). Team B had a Strength Index of 39 at the end of last year. 60 minus 39 is 21, and one-third of that is 7. Therefore, Team B's starting Strength Index for this season is 46 (39 + 7).
