Changes to Strength Index and OSI

As per the NJSIAA Football Rules and Regulations regarding the Strength Index for non-member opponents (page 17):

"There will be an interim update to an opponent’s SI rating upon conclusion of Week 5 while an opponent’s final SI rating will be available on Monday, October 25, 2021."

With that in mind, here are the latest Strength Index ratings for teams that are not members of the NJSIAA:

Archbishop Hoban (OH):  84.50
Archbishop Spalding (MD):  95.17
Archbishop Stepinac (NY):  66.03
Capital Harbor Prep (CT):  51.56
Cardinal Hayes (NY):  69.45
Cicero-North Syracuse (NY):  64.36
Dalton (NY):  16.45
DeMatha (MD):  89.39
Good Counsel (MD):  88.67
Greenwich Country Day (CT):  36.12
Harrisonville (MO):  59.02
Hopkins (CT):  49.16
Iona Prep (NY):  92.49
Long Island Lutheran (NY):  52.56
Marple Newtown (PA):  59.35
Morrisville (PA):  18.72
Northeast (PA):  71.46
Olney Prep (PA):  65.29
Smyrna (DE):  79.82
St. Anthony's (NY):  80.39
St. Joe's by the Sea (NY):  54.88
St. John's College (DC):  95.17
University (FL):  57.92
Woodland Hills (PA):  68.91
Xaverian (NY):  35.22

Keep in mind that these updated Strength Index numbers will be used to determine OSI beginning with this weekend's games.  A final Strength Index update will be made prior to the Week 9 games, when all Strength Index ratings are final (Monday, Oct. 25).

ONE OTHER IMPORTANT NOTE STRENGTH INDEX AND OSI.

The Strength Index ratings have been changed slightly due to the Donovan Catholic forfeits (Sept. 4 vs. Archbishop Stepinac, Sept. 17 vs. Toms River North, Sept. 25 vs. Colts Neck).  As per NJSIAA regulations:

"When a forfeit win is awarded to a school after the game is played (i.e. due to a rule infraction such as an ineligible player), the SI value for each school will remain unchanged and the SI values in place prior to the game will go unchanged. "

Because the Strength Index was not impacted by these games, those ratings, as well as OSI have changed.  Also, because Donovan Catholic is a Category C, non-public multiplier, the NJSIAA has determined that Toms River North and Colts Neck will NOT receive the 42 points for defeating Donovan Catholic, but rather the 28 for a loss.  This affects the power points slightly, and of course, also has an effect on OSI.
