Lots of Changes for 2018

As hard as it is to believe, football is just days away in New Jersey. And with so many changes on the horizon, the 2018 season will be nothing like we've ever seen before.

Gone are the traditional power points, replaced instead with a hybrid formula known as the United Power Ranking.

Sections won't be decided until the regular season is finished. The top 16 teams in both the North and South will qualify for the postseason, and then will be split up into brackets of eight based on geography. Non-Public sections will include 12 teams, with Non-Public Groups 3 and 4 being seeded by a committee.

Once sectional champs have been crowned, there's still more football to be played. Intersectional Bowl Games will close out the year at MetLife Stadium, pitting the North 1 champs against the North 2 champs, and the Central champs against the South champs.

And here at Gridiron New Jersey, we're thrilled to announce that we are now the official football statistician for the NJSIAA.

We'll have so much more in the coming days and weeks ahead, including a brand new design to the website, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, let's get ready for some football!
